Quilt Block Mania – March 2025 – Friendly Mule

The Quilt Block Mania theme for March 2025 is “Fancy Drink.”

The Moscow Mule is a drink that is made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice.  It is traditionally served in a copper mug.

The “Friendly Mule” block below is a quilting-themed nod to the copper mug of the Moscow Mule.  The friendship star reminds me of the texture of the copper mug, especially when made in copper-ish colors.

The block is made using traditional piecing techniques and finishes at 12″ square.

This block pattern is available for FREE until May 5, 2025.  After that, it will be available in my Pattern Shop.

Quilt Block Mania – February 2025 – Outhouse

It’s time for another Quilt Block Mania block.

The theme for February 2025 is “Houses.”

It may seem silly, but the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the theme was “an outhouse!”  My husband loves the outdoors, and he enjoys volunteering at fire lookouts.  I’ve been to the one closest to us, and the only facilities are a rustic old outhouse down a rocky path from the fire lookout.

So, if you enjoy the outdoors, maybe you will also enjoy this cute little outhouse that reminds me of one of my husband’s favorite places.  (Maybe I should have made a block with the fire lookout instead!)

This block is made with traditional piecing techniques.

This pattern will be available for free until March 31, 2025.  After that, you can find it in my pattern store.

Quilt Block Mania – January 2025 – Sneaker Shoe

I am participating in Quilt Block Mania this year as a designer (#quiltblockmania on Instagram).  Throughout the year, I, along with several other quilt pattern designers, will be designing and releasing free block patterns.  All of the blocks will finish at 12″ x 12″, and each month has a theme.

The theme for January 2025 is “Sports.”

My quilt block for January 2025 is this Sneaker Shoe block.  It is made with traditional piecing techniques.

This pattern will be available for free until March 3, 2025.  After that, you can find it in my pattern store.

This is the sample block that I made.  I realized that my “toe” came out a bit more pointy than planned, so I have updated the pattern to be more rounded like the image above.

Be sure to use an acurate scant 1/4″ seam – with all these small pieces, accuracy is important for your block to finish the correct size.
